a long shot [27 Jun 2007|03:02pm]
vegans in greensboro!

I just ordered from china wok. before I ordered, I called and asked if there was any animal stock in the broth of their tofu and vegetable soup. it smells and looks like chicken broth! I called back and the person who answered the phone didn't speak english very well and told me again that it was just tofu, no meat. I repeated, "in the broth? it's not chicken broth or chicken stock?" and he said no.

but I'm afraid to eat it.

is it vegan? or even vegetarian?

meet my new friend, blossom. she's the turkey I adopted for thanksgiving this year:

"blossom shows everyone how happy a turkey can be, when given the chance for her sweet nature to come into full bloom."

I made a shocking discovery today: olive is the one who hasn't been covering her poop! oh, I am heartbroken.

I had a frustrating day at work. are you ready?

there's a woman filling in as assistant manager for a little while because one of ours went to another store, the other one is on vacation, and the other one just stepped down to being a regular associate because of school. the store manager is pretty much a twelve year old trapped in an almost-forty-year-old's body. I don't like the lady who's been filling in. all she ever does is talk about how bored she is (she came from a bigger new york & company in our district that's actually two stores, because they have a separate accessories store in addition to the main one. their location gets way more traffic during the week than ours, and she should take that into consideration instead of complaining all day) and rearrange stuff. if you're so bored, you should help me out when I have a line and people are also asking me to open fitting rooms (simultaneously). the last time I checked, you were just standing around. stop whining and asking where all the customers are and blah blah blah bored slow blah and then getting bossy. also, don't make loud noises in my ear and tell me how much better we need to do. "okay, I'm done playin'. there's nothing else to bring out!" go play in traffic! at least I like the woman who'll be our assistant manager for good.

a girl with whom I'm usually fine was being a jerk today, so I told her so and she stopped. but for a while, it was a jab every five minutes or so, or a few jabs in a row (I don't mean she was hitting me; verbal jabs). even if she was just joking, it was really irritating me because it was constant and annoying.

my last customer of the day had a huge price adjustment, an exchange, and was with a woman whose newborn was being real loud. understood; you can't always make a baby stop crying or screaming. when that sound is paired with having to type in a bunch of long numbers correctly and get things straight, though, it's difficult to maintain concentration. by this time, I had had a headache off and on all day and was feeling crampy and grumpy. I just wanted to get it over with and go home.

I start my period today and am very aware of it. I have been all day with the help of others. thanks!

right now I just want to sing real loudly to soviet kitsch. so I am.

...but I get another saturday off.

okay, I did it. I took out my lip jewelry. I'm probably going to get my left nostril pierced today. changes all over the place lately.

greg's birthday dinner is tonight, so the shop and I are going to ganache. I worked there for maybe three days. waiting tables is not for me. some of the things in their bakery are amazing, though. granted, they aren't vegan, but they look so impressive.

my weekend starts when I get off work today (and lasts for one day before I go back).

olive and noodle sound like horses when they zig-zag all over the house. noodle starts it and olive can't help but join in, so they race around until they tire themselves out and then sprawl out on the kitchen floor for a little while before going at it again.

I feel so weird without my lip piercing in! I'd had it since my eighteenth birthday.

I don't like the idea of getting rid of my lip piercing, but I've been thinking about double nostrils for a while now. I don't want to look asymmetrical when it comes to piercings, so it'd have to go because I don't want two lip piercings. I'd be able to wear my septum jewelry, which I never do anymore.

what do you think?

I've got some serious mail swapping in the works, and it's awesome.

suggestions for mailing baked goods are much appreciated.

oh yeah, and I got another pair of new glasses. finally. they mostly look like the ones I returned, only they don't give me a headache.

I'm still alive.

I keep getting a ton of tattoo ideas.

noodle is nuts by day and snuggly by night. olive still hates a lot. and chases noodle.

a ppk friend from belgium sent me a dark chocolate covered marzipan bar. it was neat getting mail from belgium.

the cake is almost gone. I helped.

I've made four thousand calls at work over the past three days. I could give that schpiel in my sleep. "hi, I'm calling from new york & company. I just wanted to remind you that the city cash you earned is redeemable starting thursday, the seventh, through sunday, the tenth. thanks and have a great day!" only say it a gajillion times. I doodled all over my tally sheets. mom says I have a good phone voice, "very articulate!" maybe I should look into telemarketing.

started cleaning my room at mom's house the other night.
